Sloping Gardens
Sarah is often asked to design gardens which are sloping as North London particularly has many hilly parts. This garden is one example – the two gardens in the family gardens section are also on sloping sites.
This newly planted garden is situated on Downshire Hill in Hampstead and the ground rises quite steeply away from the house. A basement area had already been excavated behind the house and this was revamped with new furniture and planting and a warmer colour for the walls (terracotta although it looks pink in the pictures!). Terraces were created to allow for a flat lawn and a raised woodland area at the rear.
